About the instructor

Support and give room for practice
I have been teaching English for over 15 years. In the past, I served as the head of the department at Novaya Shkola (New School) and led the Academic Writing Center at the Higher School of Economics (HSE). I have also worked as a Cambridge Exams assessor.

I have presented at IATEFL, spoken multiple times at British Council methodology seminars, and was a Fulbright scholar. I studied at the University of Oslo and worked at Rhodes College in the USA. In 2021, I completed my MA at the University of Chichester.

It’s important to me that my students feel their progress. To achieve this, they need practice and support. I believe that’s the only way to succeed.

Here’s my article on learning foreign languages for Forbes Education. If you don’t have time to read, you can listen to the Go Uchitsya podcast. And here’s a video from one of my classroom sessions.
Feedback from a course at HSE
(march 2025, online)
  • I was fully involved in the one-day-course, participated in its every activity and really enjoyed it a lot.
  • I did all tasks because I needed feedback.
  • I learnt how to present in front of audience.
  • It takes 7 hours, but we are still alive and full of energy, because I have a product - the structure and the draft of my future presentation!
  • It was kind of hard to be fully involved during all the day, but I tried my best.
  • I tried to comment each tasks and discussion and asked some questions to clarifying something unclear for me. And sure I did all tasks which were given by our professor Zhenya. He is a great linguistic coach.
  • I was following all tasks, recoded all required videos, answered questions and asked questions, interacted with my colleagues.
  • I tried to be involved all the time.
